The Career Change Handbook for Performers

Actors Fund Work Program

Actors Fund Work

What It Is
The Actor’s Fund is a New York-based organization working with performers from all backgrounds, including those in transition. The Actors’ Fund Work Program (AWP) provides resources for performers seeking to change careers or, more often, to develop a parallel career that complements their life as a performer.

Entertainment industry and performing arts professionals - you must be a member in good standing of any entertainment industry union, and others who have earned $6,500 in each of three of the last five years, or $5,000 in each of 5 of the last 10 years. For those who do not have earnings, 12 weeks of documented industry can be substituted. (see their site for most recent requirements)

Why I Love It
Available for free to performers who meet professional eligibility requirements, the AWP offers weekly in-person orientations and job search sessions at their offices in New York and Los Angeles, as well as one-on-one assistance from counseling to job placement.
